Traditional mandel bread (Mandelbrodt anglicized to Mandel bread), is a dessert associated with Eastern European Jews. Mandelbrodt literally means "almond bread," though it can be made with other sweet ingredients. It is twice baked similar to Italian Biscotti and is usually made into a loaf and sliced. Mandel bread is a more robust than the biscotti, and not as hard even when dipped into coffee or hot chocolate our mandel bread maintains its delicious texture and crunch. Our motto at Mamma's Mandel is "It's better than biscotti!"
